As the co-founder and former Executive Director of the New York City based non-profit Hester Street Collaborative, Anne Frederick pioneered strategies for creative, fun and effective community engagement in land use decision-making. She will present the organization’s work at Pier 42 on the Lower East Side, where community members, artists, designers and city officials came together to reclaim a vacant stretch of waterfront for community use.  The result is a temporary park, built by community members, artists, activists and designers and plans for a permanent park that reflect community needs and aspirations. www.hesterstreet.org, pathstopier42.com
