Taking a quick break from architecture…

Check out this elegant little solar system visualization at http://www.whitevinyldesign.com/solarbeat/.

I showed it to the wife who was not as impressed as I was, but to me it demonstrates everything I love about infographics. A really simple idea ends up helping one visualize everything from how gravity wells work, to why pluto goes in and out of fashion as a planet, to why a manned mission to mars would be tricky.

And — just to pack a little extra punch — the solar system gets an ethereal soundtrack in the process.
